Elm Street Residence: Concord, MA

This residence in Concord was designed and built for the Anthony family in 1985. Replacing a 1946 Hugh Stubbins ranch, the house increased the living area from 1500 sf to 5500 sf. The styling of the house is based on stick and shingle precedents. The planning and materials of the house, clapboards, dormers and farmer's porch help it fit in with the neighborhood. The planning incorporates an attached garage with a six bedroom residence, necessities for the large extended families with live-in help. Unlike the previous house, this house looks and feels like it has been there for many years.
