Phillips Church, Phillips exeter Academy
Beginning with a Historic Building Assessment in 1995 this 1895 church originally built as the Second Congregational Church and later sold to the Academy to serve as its chapel, was renovated and returned to its original condition on the exterior. Careful changes were made to the interior to bring it up to date including a new HVAC system, new systems throughout and a complete fire suppression system. In addition a new fire stair and elevator were introduced into the center of the plan and the basement was completely reworked. In the basement we lowered the floor to make useable space and renovated the space that was not dedicated to new utility runs to serve as student activity space related to the religion department mission.
