Hunt Memorial Building
In 1901, Cram and Ferguson won a competition to design the Hunt Memorial Library. Opened in 1903 the Hunt Memorial Library served the City of Nashua for 68 years until the library outgrew it in 1971 and had to move a new building. The City of Nashua chose to preserve this fine building initially as offices for the school department. The building has been under restoration under the direction of Cram and Ferguson Architects beginning in 2002 with design and construction of replacement windows for the original lozenge leaded glass. Restoration of the roofs and all exterior brickwork were completed in 2007 and work is underway to restore the interior and add an elevator with construction slated to begin in 2011. The Hunt, when restored, will continue to provide a fine venue for lectures, concerts, weddings and parties and will accommodate several organizations in rental spaces.
